An avid performer of classic and contemporary repertoire, clarinetist COLLIN LEWIS is an active orchestral freelancer, performing with many professional orchestras throughout California. His 2022 engagements include performances with the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Merced Symphony, Festival Orchestra Napa, and the Berkeley Community Chorus & Orchestra. He is a recent graduate of the Advanced Performance Studies program at the Bard College Conservatory of Music, where he performed as principal clarinet both with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, and the Bard Philharmonic Orchestra in it’s Winter 2019/20 concert series in Haikou, Hainan, China. Last year, he was featured as a chamber musician in the Sidney Krum Young Artists Concert Series and the Bard Conservatory Noon Concert Series, and he performed with The Orchestra Now (TŌN) in the 2021 Bard Music Festival. In 2020, Collin performed in the Master Class Series at The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and was contracted to play with the 2020 Opera in the Ozarks Festival Orchestra, prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning when he was 16, Collin has had solo, chamber, and orchestral performances broadcast on radio and television stations in the United States and abroad, including WPLN Nashville, WQXR New York, WIPR San Juan, and Hunan TV. He can be heard on the premiere recordings of both David Diamond’s Sixth Symphony, with the IU Philharmonic Orchestra for NAXOS Records, as well as Robert Kyr’s Paradiso oratorio, with the Notre Dame Vocale for Albany Records, and others. Collin was a member of the 2017 International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, and his prior festival appearances include the Sarasota Music Festival, the ARIA International Summer Academy, the Accademia Chigiana in Sienna, Italy, and the Vanderbilt Music Academie in Aix-en-Provence, France. He has also performed in masterclasses with members of the world’s top orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and more.

Collin received his BM from Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, with Bil Jackson, and his MM from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, with Eli Eban. He completed further post-graduate studies with Pascual Martinez-Forteza and David Krakauer, and earlier in his career, he studied with Todd Waldecker & Cassandra Lee.

In addition to his career as a performer, Collin has also worked in higher education administration, performing arts center operations, and small business finance & administration, and loves incorporating all of these passions in his work. He is originally from Murfreesboro, TN, and currently lives in Merced, CA.
